DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz. Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com. A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours. The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'. The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.
Not much to report this week, so we'll continue the information sent to us from Matt Gregg, WV8MAT, in Mason county about the American Legion Nelson County Post 42 WinLink Net from last week.
Mode: Send your message via any of the modes below (additional modes may be added if requested by participants). Net Participants will receive one (1) Point for each DIFFERENT Mode used. Acceptable Modes are as follows: AREDN, HF VARA or VARA HF, HF ARDOP, ARDOP HF or ARDOP, VHF VARA, or VHF VARA FM UHF VARA, or UHF VARA, FM PACTOR, HF PACTOR 3, or HF PACTOR III, VHF PACKET UHF PACKET, TELNET, and SMTP
DO NOT PUT PARENTHESES around any of your message components, for example, your Band Mode. For example, do not put (HF VARA), just put HF VARA. Be specific and be accurate. If using HF do not put just HF or just VARA. Specify either HF VARA, if using VHF, specify VHF Packet or VHF VARA FM or UHF VARA FM. Be specific. In the Message Body: Call Sign, Name, City, County, State or Country, Mode, Decimal GPS Coordinates (if not in a designated block of the preferred form) American Legion Post Number, and location (if applicable) (or other Soapbox Comment) NOTE: Each field MUST be separated by a comma. (If your City does not have a County, please enter N/A for County) Message Accuracy is the most important part of each check-in, therefore, your message garners the most points. As with any communication, we MUST strive for 100% message accuracy. Participants will receive five (5) Points for each check-in having a 100% Correct Message (Sorry, NO Partial credit for partially correct messages). Always put your message in the Message (or Notes) block of the Preferred Template. GPS Coordinates: Decimal GPS (if not stated in Template) Net Participants will receive two (2) Points for each message with correctly formatted GPS Coordinates. Example: N2GWK, GEORGE, BARDSTOWN, NELSON, KY, HF VARA 37.8617,-85.4311 (if not in a designated block of the preferred form) Nelson County Post 42 (or other Soapbox comment) Notes: Maximum points per check-in is 10 points, minimum is 1 point. Check in as many times as you wish. Please use different modes for max points. Make sure to include your Decimal GPS Coordinates in your message.
