DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

Not much to report this week.  There has been no activities going on.  There will be a tailgate swap meet this coming Sunday, November 7th, in Charleston.  I don't have much information about it, but I'm sure the information can be found. I do know that attendance is free, and I think that it is located off of Exit 1 of Interstate I-79 north of Charleston.

I will be working on Remote Receivers for the WCEC (Wood County Emergency Communication) group 147.255 MHz repeater.  As soon as I can get ink cartridges for my printer, I'll start printing State Wide DAREN Net Certificates for those who have been waiting for them.  Not much else to report this week, maybe there will be some kind of activity next week.

There were only 29 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net again this week.  I completed 1500 check-ins to the net this week.  It's hard to believe, the State Wide DAREN Net has been operating for about 29 years since it first start On October 31, 1992.  During that 29 years, there has been as many as 108 check-ins for the weekly net.  I've been the Net Control Station for most of the nets. There have been a few other operators that were the Net Control Station while their group was operating Special Event Stations, but that hasn't happened for several years.  Lisa Hendershot, KB8UER, needs only one more check-in to make 1400.  Things will be slowing down now that cold weather and winter are coming. If you have anything that you, or your group, are doing, or will be doing, let me know so that I can have something to write about.
