DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

Not much to report this week.  We had to do some work on the one of the Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network (AREDN) 2.4 GHz HSMM (High Speed MultiMedia) system nodes on Wednesday, which had went off the air.  After we got it back in operation, Conard Richardson, KE8HLU, added a Raspberry Pi unit to node.  He connected a temperature device to the Raspberry Pi for testing purposes.  With the temperature device he can measure the temperature and humidity inside the equipment building.  He said that with the Raspberry Pi he will be able to add additional sensors and control devices.  He has set up the same type system on one of the other nodes.  After we worked on the node, it went down again later that day, but we got it back up.  Yesterday the same node reset itself again a couple of times.  We figured out what the problem was with the node, and found a way to keep it from happening again.  I don't think I will be doing much testing of the system this week since I need to get ready for the Wood County Emergency Communications Business meeting and Christmas dinner on Tuesday.  It also looks like we are supposed to get a couple inches of snow on Tuesday, so I won't be out running around doing much testing until it melts.

There were 34 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net this week.  Lisa Wright, KE8PPS, has changed her call.  Her new call is N8POC.
