DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

Some of the local Amateurs have got back to working on the HSMM (High Speed Multimedia) 2.4 GHz system here in Wood County.  Next week we will be setting up some temporary Nodes and go around the county to see what we can see.  We got the official okay to install a node up about 80 feet on the Wood County Fire Tower.  With that node we should be able to have a couple more paths for the system.  As soon as we get some of the backbone system working, we will start trying to interface different type systems on it.  While looking at the AREDN HSMM website, it shows there is an HSMM system in the Huntington area.

I have so many outside projects that I have been working on, that I haven't been able to work on printing the certificates for State Wide DAREN Net that several operators are waiting for.  I've been trying to repair and shingle the roof on one of my out buildings.  The roof is pretty bad shape.  I made a mistake and fell through the roof.  I got skinned up a little bit and I'm sore. It will be a couple days before I can start back on it.  I'm not sure when things are going to slow down, maybe when winter gets here.

That's pretty much all I have for this week.  If anyone has something to pass on to others, let me know.

There were 33 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net this week.  I want to welcome Dana Fouss, KB8GYU, back to the net.  Dana has been missing from the State Wide DAREN Net since June 18, 1994.
