DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

All I can say is that it has been hot this past week.  I didn't feel like doing much of anything.  I've been cutting brush and grass the first thing in the morning before the sun started beating down.  I've been making tests, and reading some Topo Maps for the HSMM (High Speed Multimedia) 2.4 GHz system. I've been making some trips around the area trying to find line-of-site paths that may have some towers we may be able to install some nodes on.  Yesterday I went to the PARK (Parkersburg Amateur Radio Klub) 147.39 MHz repeater site and installed a node at about 60 feet on their 70 foot tower.  I was hoping I might get a path to the one at my house, but no luck.  I made copies of some articles out of some QST magazines that I want to give to the Wood County Emergency Services when I go talk to him.  I hope to get permission to install a HSMM node on one of the Wood County Fire Radio towers.

I still haven't got started printing the State Wide DAREN Net Certificates.  It just seems to be too hot to just sit in front of a computer.  They say it is supposed to cool down a little bit in a few days, maybe I can get started working on them.

There were 35 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net this week.  Randall McGill, N7WWA, who's been participating in the net since July 22, 2017, has completed 50 check-ins, and will be receiving his certificate.

That's all I have for now.  If you have anything you would to pass on to others, let me know.
