DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

Since the WV Governor has opened up some of the activities in the state, the Wood County Emergency Communications group is planning to hold their monthly business meeting at their normal location.  They are going to practice the social distancing by spacing the tables a little farther apart and have less chairs at the tables.  Since the WCEC group makes VE Testing available before their meetings, a couple non-licensed people are planning to come before the meeting, and take their test.  I'll report on what happens in next weeks News. There are more Amateurs around the Parkersburg area who are getting interested in the High Speed Multimedia system that is in the planning stage.  We just need to get some more people that are good with computers, and networking, to help put the system together.  I'm not too good with computers, but I'm working on the antennas and tower locations for the system.  Some one told me that the Wheeling area already has a HSMM system up and running.  There are a lot of things that can be done with this kind of system.  Maybe we can get the DAREN system tied into it and have it start growing again.  If there are any other groups in the state that have a HSMM system is service, I'd like to hear about them.

There were 34 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net again this week.  Keith Dobbins, N8KLD, who has been participating in the net since May 3, 2008, has completed 300 check-ins and will be receiving his certificate.  There was one new participant to the net this week, and that was Bob Orr, KB3URR, from Oakland, MD.  I want to welcome Bob to the DAREN system and hope he can participate in the net as often as he can.
