DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A Statewide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

Don't forget that tomorrow is Memorial Day, a time to remember those who served and died for our country.

I don't know what has happened, but on Wednesday the Jackson County NODE/PBBS of JACKWV/RPLYWV went back off the air again.  It looks like I will need to make a trip down to Ripley to see what has happened.

Not much else is going on right now.  I'm trying to get all the equipment together for Field Day.  It will be upon us before we know it.  The Wood County Emergency Communications Field Day will be arranged in a different way, so we will need a lot more coax.  The operating positions will be located under one large 24 by 40 canopy, and the antennas will be located a long way away from the operating positions surrounding the canopy.  This will be the first time we will be setting the equipment up this way and hope to learn something from it. I haven't had time to finish building the power supplies and assembling the other two stations WETZWV/NMARWV and ROANWV/SPNCWV, that need to be put back on the air.

I need to set up one of the Wood County Emergency Communications 24 by 40 foot canopies for the Eastwood VFD Ice Cream Social which will be held this coming Saturday, June 1st, and the following Saturday, June 8th, the Amateurs in the area need to provide the safety communications for the Chic-Fil-A 10K Road Run. The activities seem to be coming on a regular basis.

There were only 31 check-ins to the Statewide DAREN Net this week.  Frank Hughes, WD8DEP, needs only one more check-in to make 700.
