DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

I kind of goofed on the State Wide Net Announcement last week.  Some how I put the net date of the January 17, 2018 on the announcement instead of the January 19, 2019.  I guess that's what happens when you don't change your calendar. But, it looked like everyone knew what the net date should have been, and got checked into the net okay.

I was close to being right about the Wood County NODE/PBBS of WOODWV/PKBGWV.  I thought the station would go off the air when the temperature got down to about 32 degrees.  At about 9:00 pm today I received a call from Conard Richardson, KE8HLU, who told me the station had just went off the air.  The temperature was about 8 degrees.  I guess I'm going to need to put another station together to have one operational.

I still need to work on the total list of check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net.  I usually have it done by the end of the year, but since I'm keeping the records using a different system, I need to figure an easy way to list only the stations that have been in operation for the last two years.  When I get some time, I'll start working on it.

That's all I have for this week.  If you know of anything going on in your area let me know.

There were 37 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net again this week.  Quentin (Butch) Sayers Jr.,WV8BS, who's been participating in the net since September 16, 1995, has completed 250 check-ins.  And, Michael Tyler, WA8YWO, who's been participating in the net since December 21, 1996, has completed 150 check-ins. Both of these operators will be receiving their certificates.
