DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State-Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, and you get all the radio equipment that you want.  From the weather reports it doesn't look we're going to have a white Christmas, but that's all right with me.

I'm just sitting here trying to think of something to write about.  I checked my main PBBS of PKBGWV to see if there was anything there, nothing.  I've been taking the racing clocks, that I'm rebuilding apart.  Now that I have removed eight different circuit boards that are plugged together using Anderson Power Plugs, I have several of them spare.  In case you use the Anderson Power Plugs, how do you fasten them together?  Some people use the roller pins that you can get for them, or they just slide them together.  I prefer using Super Glue.  It only takes a small drop to let them stay together.  I use the Anderson Power connectors for all my 12-volt wiring.  When I get a new piece of equipment, like a radio, I cut the power cord off and put an Anderson Power connecter on it.  If the radio has an in-line fuse, I cut it off and put an Anderson Power connectors on each end of it.  I keep a bunch of in-line fuse holders, with fuses and Anderson Power connectors handy.  I make up all kinds of wiring arrangements with Anderson Power connectors on them.  Some of the things I have are four, six, and eight-way splitter/combiner adaptors, various length jumper cables, jumper cables with alligator clips, some with test probes, and test jacks.  For testing power supplies, I have several 6 Ohm, 50-Watt power resistors with Anderson Power connectors.  After Field Day this year, I modified all my power supplies with Anderson Power connectors and removed the AC power cords.  I mounted old computer AC power connectors in their place. It makes it easier to store and transport the power supplies by not have the power cord on them.  You can get the computer power cords for almost nothing, or a dime a dozen.  I have Volt Meters, and Amp Meters with Anderson Power connectors on them.  I also have cigarette plugs and jacks with Anderson Power connectors.  I even have Anderson Power connectors connected to the old Red/Black Polarized connecters.  You need to be careful with them and make sure they don't get reversed.  I could go on, but I better get this thing out.

There were only 31 check-ins to the State-Wide DAREN Net this week.  Ken "Cappy" Caplinger, needs only one more check-in to make 100.
