DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State-Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

Well, it's going to be another busy week.  I need to start pulling trailers to Mountwood Park, in Wood County, to get ready for the Volcano Days festival. The Wood County Emergency Communications group is going to be operating the BINGO games at the festival.  With all of the rain there has been in the last few weeks, the ground at the park is very soggy.  Getting the trailers into the BINGO site is going to be a challenge.  It is supposed to rain all week and that's going to make it worse.  I received a telephone call from the park director and he told me he is thinking about cancelling the event, but there have been a lot of people that have already made plans on being there and have already paid for their Flea Market and Vendor spaces.  Volcano Days is an Engine Show with a lot of old one stroke gas engines and steam engines they used to use for pumping oil in days when oil was a booming industry.  The director is going to watch and see what the weather does.

It looks like I'm going to need a new printer to work on the DAREN Net Check- ins.  I also need it for three other projects.  I need to get the WCEC ID Cards and some new ARES ID Cards printed up, scan the Field Day paper work that goes to the ARRL, and print up the tickets for the Hamfest coming up on October 13th.  I'm hoping to get the printer on Wednesday when we go to town to get groceries.

There were 33 check-ins to the State-Wide DAREN Net this week.  There are a few operators getting close to having enough check-ins to get a certificate.
