DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz. Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: firstname.lastname@example.org. A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours. The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'. The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.
It's been a quiet week and I don't have much to write about. Awhile back I was asked about the DAREN News and Net Announcements on the main county PBBSs. If at any time there is not enough room to post a message on any of the PBBSs, you can delete any of the news or announcements to make room. Since the news and announcements are posted on most of the main county PBBSs, if someone needs to get the information, I'm sure they can find it on any of the other PBBSs.
Well, they said the groundhog saw his shadow, so I guess we are in for another six weeks of winter. When I looked at the calendar it looks like we have six more weeks before spring anyway. The only thing I use Groundhogs Day for is to know that warm weather is getting closer, and to wish my nephew Sammy Mercer, N8SVX, a Happy Birthday.
I notice in the SERA Repeater Journal that Mo Kittle, AD8T, is looking for topics or discussions of interest to write about in his "Tech-Specs" section of the journal. If you have any topics or discussions send them to him at his home address of 108 Hickory DR, Elkins, WV, 26241 or SERA E-Mail: AD8T@SERA.ORG
There were 33 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net this week. My certificate printer was working okay, so I was able to get the certificates printed up. I should get them in the mail in the few days.
That's it for this week. If you have anything that you would like to pass on to others, let me know.
