DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

The Wood County Emergency Communications group had a great Hamfest yesterday. I missed a lot of those who came to the Hamfest since I was in another building from about 9:00 am to 11:00 am administering VE Testing.  From the looks of records the group did a good job.   I want to thank everyone who showed up at the Hamfest.

The local Amateurs are getting ready for the last High School/Middle School cross county races this coming Thursday.  The races will be a regional event with only four races.  Since this will be the last major event, I will be able to get back on the DAREN State Wide Net Check-in Certificates.

There were only 29 check-ins to the net this week.  John Western, KC8ODI, needs only one more check-in to make 600.  Morris (Mo) Kittle, AD8T, needs only one more check-in to make 100.  There was one new check-in to the net this week and that was Larry Chaffins, KE8GXB, from Homerville, Ohio.  I want to welcome Larry to the DAREN system and hope he participates in State Wide Net as often as possible.

That's it for this week.  If anyone has anything to report let me know.
