DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

Terry Mills, KC8TUE, and I want to thank everyone who attended, and supported the Hamfest yesterday.  I didn't get to see everyone since I had to help with the VE Testing, and was away for a couple hours.  The testing started at about 9:00 am and finished about 11:00 am.  There were seven people who took the Technician class test.  Five of them passed their test, and will be receiving their license.  There were no upgrades test administered.

Some of the members of Wood County Emergency Communications (WCEC) will be providing the racing clocks and safety communications at two more Cross County foot races on October 20th.  Then on October 22nd other members of the group will be holding an October Fest.  The organizers of the event said they have at least 40 vendors who have said they will be there.  Those two activities will be about the last events for the year, for the group.  One church organization will be holding a Fall Fest which is more like a Halloween party for the neighborhood kids.  Their event will be held on October 29th.  For the past several years they have asked WCEC for the use of their 24 by 40 canopies. WCEC hasn't heard anything from them this year, we will just have to wait to see if they contact us.

On Thursday, I will be providing a PBX Telephone system for a class in Pleasants County.  The class, Volunteer Reception Center. is to show officials how to register spontaneous responders when a disaster happens in their area. I've taken the class a couple of times, and provided the telephone system to several of the classes.

I haven't heard from anyone else on any activities going on, or Packet stations that are being installed, or has went off the air.

Now that things are starting to slow down, I may be able to get to work on the printing of DAREN Check-in Certificates for those who have been waiting for them.

There were 33 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net this week.

That's it for this week.  If you have anything you would like to report on, let me know.
