DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

Well, Field Day is over for this year.  I'm still trying to get my truck and trailer unloaded.  After I get them unloaded, I need to go back to the Field Day site and bring a couple more trailers home.  I love Field Day, but it takes a lot of energy to set up, operate, and tear down.  I think we will have a pretty good score this year, even though our group uses Field Day as a training event.  We had a couple new Amateurs that just got their Amateur license this year and wanted to know what Field Day was all about.  I think they got their eyes open seeing all that goes on.

If you have anything special that happened during Field Day, that you want others to know about, let me know, and we'll put it in the DAREN News.  That's all I have for now.  I going to get everything put away so I can get some rest.

There were 39 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net week.  Terry Mills, KC8TUE, who has been participating in the net since October 19, 2002, has completed 650 check-ins.  And, John Western, KC8ODI, who has been participating in the net since March 13, 2004, has completed 550 check-ins.  Both of these operators will be receiving their certificates.  I want to welcome Elizabeth Broschart, KD8PMI, back to the net.  The last time Elizabeth checked into the net was June 22, 2013.  One of the clubs in the state must have had a Packet station set up at their Field Day location.  There were four new check-ins from about the same area checked into the net.  I want to welcome all four of them to the DAREN system.  The operators were: Timothy Stout, KC8QWV, from Rachel, Wilmer Stewart, KB8EFM, from Mannington, Roger Sponaugle, KC8KL, from Mannington, and Okey Eye, KE8CYN, from Hendricks.  Even though they only checked in on Field Day, maybe they will get hooked on Packet and start checking in regularly. There was one station that checked into the net at about 7:39am on Saturday, with the callsign of "NOCALL".  If you checked into the net at about that time, and don't see your call on the State Wide DAREN Net Announcement this week, let me know so that I can update your net participation.
