DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

Not much to report this week.  Even the Wood County Emergency Communications group has a break in activities.  The group is planning to hold a One Day Technician Class Amateur Radio class on June 11th.  The class will be held in New Martinsville at the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church.  Bill Sams, KE8KR, who used to teach Technician Class Amateur Radio classes over a period of several weeks, is getting those who are going to take the One Day Class familiar with Amateur Radio.  The group should have a little understanding when they take the one day class.  Bill held his first four hour class yesterday, and will be holding another one this coming Saturday.

Don't forget there will be a One Day General Class Amateur Radio License class on June 18th.  The class will be held at the Mid Ohio Valley Health Department, 211 6th Street, Parkersburg, and will start at about 9:00 am.  If you know of anyone who needs to upgrade to General, please let them know about the class.

Father Joe Peterson, N8DSN, will be leaving the Parkersburg area in the near future.  Joe will be moving to a church in the Wheeling area.  Joe moved from the Huntington area about 12 years ago.  On Thursday I will be helping him get his tower and antennas disassembled and ready to ship to Wheeling.

That's it for now.  If you have anything you want to report on, just let me know.

There was 33 check-ins to the  State Wide DAREN Net week.  Quentin (Butch) Sayers Jr., WV8BS, who has been participating in the net on and off since September 16, 1995, has completed 200 check-ins.  Butch will be receiving his certificate along with several others when I get caught up with a few of my several little projects.
