DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the www.wc8ec.com and www.wc8ec.org websites.

Nothing much has happened this past week.  The only things that I can think of is the upcoming Charleston Hamfest, which will be held March 19th.  The Charleston area Amateur Radio group is going to hold a one day cram course for Technician Class radio license.  The course will be held on March 5th from 7:30am to 11:15am.  The location of the cram course will be the Frontier Telephone Company building, 1500 MacCorkle Ave., in Charleston.  Testing for the course, and for any other class license will be held at 11:30am.  If anyone wants to take their test for upgrade, they need to sign up at 11:15am.  The Wood County Emergency Communications group is getting ready to do a one day Technician Class license class on May 14th, and a one day General Class license class on June 18th.  Both classes will be held at the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department, 211 6th Street in Parkersburg.  Both classes will begin at 9:00am. License testing will be held about 30 minutes after each of the classes.  Also upgrade tests will be administered after each of the classes.  For any additional information about the Parkersburg classes, contact me at wa8llm@yahoo.com or (304) 679-3470 or (304) 481-3840.

That's all I have for this week.  As you can see, I'm looking for any information to write about.  If you have any activities in your area, let me know.

There were 39 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net this week.  Roy Huffman, KD8YKR, needs only one more check-in to make 50.
