DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.com website.

Not much news this week, but I did get an E-Mail from Eugene Roy, N8ER, let me know the Randolph County NODE/PBBS of RANDWV/ELKNWV is back on the air.  It sure is nice to see it back in good working order.  I was able to post the DAREN News, and Net Announcements in that area of the state without any problems.  Vincent Price, K8VEP, also wanted to let Zane Hammack, WV8ZH, know that he was glad to see the station back in good working order.  He can now get to the Ritchie County NODE/PBBS of RITCWV/HRVLWV as lot better.

Sammy Mercer, N8SVX, and I now have enough equipment repaired to put together replacement stations for Jackson County, Wetzel County, and Wirt County.  We are hoping to go to Jackson County on November 17th to get that station back in good working order.  We need to get it operating so it can be used for a Hospital Disaster Exercise on December 10th.  We're hoping to have someone operating a Packet station at the Jackson General Hospital for the exercise. The Command Center for the exercise will be located at the Mid Ohio Health Department in Parkersburg.

I finally got started printing up the DAREN Check-in Certificates that several DAREN operators have been waiting for.  I'll work some more on them this week, and hope to get them mailed before I go to Jackson County.

There were 34 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net this week.  Tiffany Cutlip, KC8PNI, who has been participating in the net on and off since December 9, 2000, has completed 100 check-ins and will be receiving her certificate.
