DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.com website.

Not much news this week.  Things have been very quiet in this area, and I've only received information about one DAREN station.  I have been busy building racing clocks for the many road races that are held in, and around Parkersburg. The clocks can be seen clearly from over 100 feet.  The runners that I have talked to said they liked having the clocks along the race course.  So far I have six of them build, and have been used at two different road races.  I am in the process of building five more clocks that will be used at the Parkersburg Half Marathon in August.

Field Day is coming up at the end of next month.  Our groups is making plans on what to operate, and getting antennas and stations together.  Plans are also underway for the Parkersburg/Wood County Hamfest which will be held on October 10th.  The location will be at the same as last year.  It will be held at the Wood County 4-H Camp Grounds on Butcher Bend Road in Mineral Wells.  For those who want to bring equipment to sell, the tables and electricity are free again this year, as long as those operating the Hamfest are notified at least a week in advance.  There is always room outside for free flea marketing.  Now that the weather is better, it's time to start getting our outside work done.  Check out the www.wc8ec.com or www.wc8ec.org website.

Gene Roy, N8ER, sent me a message about the Tucker County NODE/PBBS of TUCKES/PRSNES.  Gene said the station is back on the air at his house.

There were only 39 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net this week.

That's it for this week.  If you have anything to pass on to others, let me know.
