DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.com website.

I got a message from Mark Sweitzer, KD8MIV, with some more information about the Tucker County NODE/PBBS.  Mark said the ALIAS for the NODE/PBBS has been changed to TUCKWV/DAVIWV.  The station is located on Canaan Heights about four miles South of Davis, WV.  Mark says the station may have a few bugs in it, but he will work them out after he gets back from the Dayton Hamfest.  He says the station has a fair coverage, and from what I have seen it looks good as it is. I want to thank Mark for getting the station on the air.

I had a great time at the Dayton Hamfest on Friday even though we got rained on hard.  I couldn't stay till Saturday, since our communications group helped with the Chic-Fil-A Road Race yesterday.  The group set up their Race Clocks at each of the Mile Markers.  From talking to some of the racers, they loved having the clocks at each Mile Markers so they could see their running time.  I think the clocks are a great asset to the races that Amateur Radio is involved with.

There were only 32 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net this week.  Opie Nutter, KC8ZBQ, who has been participating in the net since February 17, 2007, has completed 100 check-ins and will be receiving his certificate.  I want to welcome back to the net, Tom Di Bacco, AC8HQ.  Tom has been missing from the net since May 5, 2012.  His check-in this week will be added to his previous 72 check-ins.
