DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

The only news that I have this week is the loss of the Mineral County NODE/PBBS of MINEWV/KEYSWV.  I noticed the station was down last Thursday when I was posting last week's DAREN News and Net Announcement.  I did receive several E- Mails about the station, but I can't remember who all they were from and I can't get into the Internet to see who they were.  But, I do want to thank them for letting me know about the station.

If anyone sends me an E-Mail, I may be late answering it.  My main computer decided to lie down and die this morning.  I've been expecting it to quit for some time, and I have been making sure the files have been backed up.  I'm late getting the DAREN News and Wood County ARES Bulletins sent to Bill, N8JXO, so that he can get them posted on the Wood County Emergency Communications website: www.wc8ec.org

There were 57 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net again this week.  John Peterson, K8ZPR, who's been participating in the net since April 23, 1994, has completed 900 check-ins.  Randy Thomas, K8KHW, who's been participating in the net since February 13, 1999, has completed 450 check-ins.  Both of these operators will be receiving their certificates.  Bob Tuckerman, W3RUA, needs only one more check-in to make 850.  And, Robert Hanson, AF8RH, needs only one more check-in to make 750.
