DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

Things are still slow and not much news.  I still haven't got the Wood County APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) station in service yet.  I have four meetings in three days this week, two in Pleasants County, one in Ritchie County, and one in Roane County, so that is going to restrict quite a bit of my time from getting the station installed.

The WCEC (Wood County Emergency Communications) group and the Roane County Amateur Radio Club are planning to hold a One Day Technician Class Amateur Radio class.  The class and VE testing will be held in Spencer.  The Roane County club will get and set up the location, and the WCEC VE team will travel to Spencer to teach the class and administer the W5YI Tests.  If you know of anyone wanting to take the class, keep and eye on the DAREN News, and/or the WCEC Website of: www.wc8ec.org

There were 58 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net again this week.  John Peterson, K8ZPR, needs only one more check-in to make 900.  Randy Thomas, K8KHW, needs only one more check-in to make 450.  And, Charlie Dotson, WB8NSL, needs only one more check-in to make 150.  There was one station that checked into the net on Saturday evening at about 7:21 pm with the callsign of "TEST". If you don't see your callsign on this coming week's net announcement, and think it may have been you, let me know so that I can correct your net participation records.
