DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

Due to a sudden health problem, I wasn't able to get last week's DAREN News and State Wide DAREN Net Announcement posted on the DAREN PBBSs.  When I post this week's News and Net Announcement, I'll also post last week's News and Net Announcement.  Even though the Net Announcement will be a week late, it will still have the check-in callsigns for July 2nd.  I will only be able to post both week's information on the PBBSs that have large enough mailboxes.  As soon as I get the information sent to Bill Davidson, N8JXO, he will post the DAREN News on the www.wc8ec.org website.  On that site you can also read old DAREN News.

The Wood County Emergency Communications group will be getting their BINGO equipment together this week so they can operate the BINGO games at the West Virginia Interstate Fair and Exposition.  The fair will be in operation from July 19th through the 23rd.  The group is planning to hold a Special Event Station while at the fair.  There has been no formal announcement about the SES, or what bands, or frequencies, that will be used.  They have talked about sending out a QSL card, or a certificate, to those who contact the station.  It will be decided on what they will do after the fair is over.  The callsign of the SES will be WC8EC.  If you hear the stations on the air give them a contact. The station will not be in operation 24 hours a day, since the fair shuts down at 11:00 pm each night.  They have talked about starting the SES at about noon each day, but that has not been confirmed.

There was 50 check-ins to this week's State Wide DAREN.  Shaun Neidlinger, KB3CXQ, who's been participating in the net since December 26, 2009, has completed 50 check-ins and will be receiving his certificate.  Ron Wilson, K8RWW, needs only one more check-in to make 300.  I will get started on the certificates of those who are waiting for theirs.  I have heard from one operator who didn't get his certificate.  If you have been waiting for a certificate and haven't got it, let me know.  I'm a couple or three weeks behind right now.
