DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

Not much news again this week.

Don't forget that Field Day is this coming Saturday and Sunday.  As in the past, the State Wide DAREN Net will be operated during the complete Field Day activity.  That should allow everyone the opportunity to get checked into the net and do a demonstration of Packet Radio to those visitors to you Field Day site.  The Wood County Emergency Communications group will have a Packet station set up at their Field Day site.  The callsign of the station will be WC8EC.  Access to the station will be through the NODEs of WOODWV and RITCWV. After Field Day is over send me a report of how you, or your group did.  I need something to write about here in the DAREN News.

There were 53 check-ins to this week's State Wide DAREN Net.  Daniel Ritchie, KC8ZLK, who's been checking into the net since June 26, 2006, have completed 250 check-ins and will be receiving his certificate.  Douglas Haines, W8DEH, needs only one more check-in to make 100.  There was one new check-in to the net this week and that was Clinton Heffner, KF8MZ, from Troy Ohio.  I want to welcome Clinton to the DAREN system and hope he participates in the net, and uses the system as often as he can.  There was one station that checked into with the callsign of TEST.  The check-in was at about 9:23 pm on Saturday.  If you checked into the net at about that time, and don't see your callsign on this week's State Wide DAREN Net Announcement, let me know.  I want to make sure everyone who checks into the net gets the credit they deserve.  No one but me and you will know who it was.
