DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

I goofed a little bit setting up the State Wide DAREN Net this past weekend. I've been having trouble with my Packet station getting into the Remote Receiver of the 147.255 Voice Repeater, which is located at my house.  To keep from interfering with the Remote Receiver, I've been using a very low profile antenna that will only connect into the WOODWV NODE while posting the DAREN News and Net Announcements.  I forgot to put the regular antenna back onto the Packet station when I was finished.  I'm sure there were a few stations that didn't get checked into the net when I first set it up, but got in later.  I think I've corrected the problem with the regular antenna and won't have that problem again.

Not much else in the line of news this week, but I did get some information about some Amateurs who are getting stations set up to Packet Radio operators. I talked to Paul Whited, KB8YZT, in Charleston, who said there are 5 or 6 Amateurs that have ordered, and received, Terminal NODE Controllers to get set ready for Packet Radio.  I figure in the next few weeks we will see new stations checking into the State Wide DAREN Net.

There were 61 check-ins to this week's State Wide DAREN Net.  There was one new participate to the net this week, and that was Donald Bowyer, KE8NK, from Harrisville.  I want to welcome Don to the DAREN system and hope he can participate as often as possible.
