DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

All that I have this week is a report on the State Wide DAREN Net Certificates that I've been behind getting out.  I contacted the company that was going to supply the certificate paper.  They said the paper had been shipped on November 29th.  I figured that with the Christmas season and all of the cards, letters, and packages, the shipment might be a little late.  The certificate paper showed up on Tuesday, December 7th.  I have all of the certificates printed up. All I need to do is get the envelopes addressed, the DAREN Maps printed up, and certificates and maps placed in the envelopes, and mailed out.  I will be going to town on Tuesday this week, and I'll mail them at the Post Office.  By the time you read this News, you should have your certificate, if you have been waiting for one.  I think there may be two or three that I will need to get printed up for those who just completed a multiple of 50 check-ins.  I'll try not to get so far behind again.

The latest DAREN Path Map that I'm mailing out may have some paths that are no longer there.  The last time I checked some of the paths was in October.  But, as Winter, and the cold weather gets here, some of the paths are going to change.  If you have trouble getting from one place to another using your regular routes, try going a different way.  With the change of the seasons some of the NODE to NODE paths will change, and you will need to go a different direction.

That's all I have for this week.  The weather is going to start getting colder and we are expecting snow.  If we get the snow, just be careful if you have to go out.

There were 56 check-ins to this week's State Wide DAREN Net.  Roy Humes, N8RH, who has been participating in the net since April 2, 1994, has completed 700 check-ins and will be receiving his certificate.  Jim Stephenson, KE8YB, needs only one more check-in to make 300.
