DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

Wood County lost an Amateur Radio Operator this past week.  I want to announce the passing of Leo Pabst, WA8BMA.  Leo was a regular DAREN operator from October 31, 1992, to May 4, 2002.  Leo got busy on several other projects and got away from the radio for awhile.  Leo did have 284 check-ins to the State Wide DAREN Net before got busy on other projects.

I got an E-Mail from Gene Roy, N8ER, asking me to send a DAREN Plan to Ken Kenner, KA3SKW.  Ken is wanting to get involved in the DAREN system again.  Ken used to check into the State Wide DAREN Net from November 21, 1992, to June 7, 2003.  I lost contact with Ken, and wondered what had happened to him.  I need to print a copy of the DAREN Plan and send it to him.

That's all I have for this week.  The news seems to get less each week.  I you have anything that I can put in the News I would appreciate it.

There were 53 check-ins to this week's State Wide DAREN Net.  My Daughter Cathy Wotring, KC8DJJ, who's been participating in the Net, since April 27, 1996, has completed 750 check-ins.  Lester Shield, K8LES, who's been participating in the net, since December 13, 2008, has completed 50 check-ins.  Both of these operators will be receiving their certificates just as soon as I can get started printing them up.  Ray Bodie, N8TWV, needs one check-in to make 500. David Wright, N8NWV, needs one more check-in to make 250.  Joe Wigal, W8JTW, needs one more check-in to make 50.  One station checked into the net this week with callsign of "TEST".  If you don't see you call on this week’s State Wide DAREN Net Announcement, and think that it might have been you, let me know so that I can update your Net Participation Records.
