DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

I received a message from Gene Roy, N8ER, about the Randolph County NODE/PBBS of RANDWV/ELKNWV.  Gene said that he and a couple other DAREN users are unable to connect to the NODE or PBBS.  I know it's working, but it does seem to be having a problem.  I'm able to connect to the station going through the Ritchie County NODE of RITCWV.  When I get connected to the PBBS, it takes a long time to post a message, and then it takes several tries to get disconnected.  I'm not for sure who actually works on the station, but the callsign on the station is KD8BMX, Shane Harper.  The last time that Shane checked into the net was May 1st, and I didn't get an Emergency Coordinator's Report for May or June.  I'll drop Shane an E-Mail and see what might be going on.

I don't have much more to report, but I was busy most of the week.  I helped operate the BINGO games at the County Fair and didn't get home until after midnight every night.  We disassembled most of the equipment Saturday at the closing of the fair, and took some of it home.  We had to go back on Sunday to finish loading up the equipment on the trailers and taking them home.  The fair was down a little bit from last year, but we did make some money to put in the bank.  Now I have about a month to get ready for the BINGO games at the Parkersburg Homecoming.  We will also be getting ready for the Parkersburg Half Marathon.  I still need to get the WC8EC Field Day Report put together and sent in.

That's all I have for now.

There were only 44 check-ins to this week's State Wide DAREN Net.  This News is late this week.  Last week I had a near lightening hit which took out a few items that I'm just now finding.  So far I have found a Power Supply for a Remote Receiver for the 147.255 MHz Repeater system, the Serial Port on my main Internet Computer, as well as one of the Uninterrupted Power Supplies for it, and before I could get the DAREN Net Check-in list updated, I had to hand print all of last week's State Wide DAREN Net, since the Printer port on my DAREN Computer in no longer working.  I figure that in the next few days I'll find other problems.
