DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

I haven't heard from anyone this week about any of the regular NODE/PBBSs that may off the air, or went back on the air.  There have been several stations that haven't been heard from in a few weeks, and I'm not for sure of their status.  The DAREN News has been very slim for the past few months with very little to report.  If you have something to report or pass on to those who might read the News, let me know so that I can pass it on to others.  I don't know if anyone is reading the DAREN News at all.

I'm going to be busy this coming week.  Wood County Emergency Communications is going to be operating the BINGO games at the West Virginia Interstate Fair and Exposition, here in Wood County.  Even though the BINGO games don't start until about 6:00 pm and finish at about 11:00 pm most of the days, it takes a little while to get everything set up and ready run, and then to shut everything down after the games are over.  We usually get home about Midnight and then start again for the next day.  On Tuesday the Fair Officials want our group to operate the BINGO games for the Senior Citizens.  Each day of the week the fair picks out a group to honor.  They provide different activities for each group, and BINGO is the activity that we get involved with.  On Tuesday the seniors will play BINGO from about 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm so we have to be at the fairgrounds early on Tuesday.  Then on Saturday, the last day of the fair, the BINGO games operate from about 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm, then we get to disassemble and put away all of the BINGO equipment, including tables, chairs, and canopies.  Well, that's all I have to report so I guess I'd better get this thing finished up and posted around the state.

There were 54 check-ins to this week's State Wide DAREN Net.  As soon as our communications group is finished with the West Virginia Interstate Fair and Exposition, I might have a little time to get caught up with Participation Certificates that I'm falling behind on again.  There was one new check-in to this week's State Wide DAREN Net and that was John Miller, KJ8M, from Parkersburg.  I want to welcome John to the DAREN system and hope that he can participate in the net as often as possible.
