DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

Not much to report this week.  I did have trouble posting last week’s DAREN News and State Wide DAREN Net Announcement on the Charleston and Hurricane PBBSs.  I think it may have been band conditions because I also had trouble with a few stations checking into the Wood County 147.255 MHz voice net.  The bad band conditions may also explain the low number of check-ins to this week’s DAREN Net.

Don't forget there are a couple of Hamfest coming up shortly.  The Athens, Ohio Hamfest will be April 25th.  And, the Jackson County Hamfest will be held on May 2nd.  The Athens Hamfest will be on East State Street in Athens.  The Jackson County Hamfest will be at the Ripley Middle School on School Street in Ripley.  I won't be able to attend the Jackson County Hamfest due to a Mountain Bike Race that will be held the same day.  The Wood County Emergency Communications group will be providing the Safety Communications for the event.

That's all I have for this week.  If you have something to pass on, let me know.

There were only 48 check-ins again this week.  Donnie Woodford, KC8YVR, needs only one more check-in to make 250.
