DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz.  Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com.  A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours.  The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'.  The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.org website.

I've picked up a little information about Hamfests that are coming up in the next few months.  The Plateau Amateur Radio Club Hamfest will be held on Saturday, February 20th, at the old National Guard Armory in Oak Hill.  The Hamfest will start at 8:00 am.  At the Plateau Amateur Radio Club Hamfest, The West Virginia State Radio Council will be holding their regular meeting for the State Convention, which will be held in August at Jacksons Mill.  The Charleston Hamfest will be held on March 20th at the National Guard Armory on Coonskin Drive.  The Jackson County Hamfest will be held on Sunday, May 2nd from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, in Ripley at the Ripley Middle School.  The Parkersburg Hamfest will be held on Saturday, October 9th, in Wood County. More information will follow.

I'll hold an Amateur Radio Packet class this coming Saturday.  The class will be held at the Eastwood Fire station on Route 47, about 12 miles East of Parkersburg.  This will be the first class that I will be using the Power Point program that I put together about a year ago.  If anyone is interested in taking the class, just show up at about 9:00 am.  You can give me a call at (304) 679-3470, or drop me an E-Mail at: wa8llm@yahoo.com  if you have any questions.  I'll be at the fire station at about 7:00 am to start getting the equipment and computers ready for the class.

That's about all I have for this week.  If anyone has something they would like to pass on, or has any information about any Hamfests that will be coming up this year, let me know.

There were 61 check-ins to this week's State Wide DAREN Net.  Gary Rosenlieb, KC8YJJ, needs only one more check-in to make 50.
