WOOD COUNTY ARES BULLETIN NR 21.22      DATE: May 30, 2021
SUBJECT: OPERATIONS ON FIELD DAY

Field Day is more than just a contest to see how many contacts one can make in a given time.  It's a time to experiment with unusual antennas, equipment, modes, and most times, under difficult circumstances.  It's a perfect time to get those new Amateur Radio operators, and unlicensed Amateurs on Amateur Radio frequencies, and let them operate.  Field Day also provides an opportunity to expose Amateur Radio to the general public and Public Safety officials show that Amateur Radio can serve a great purpose in a disaster and for emergency communications.

This year, set aside a few hours to operate during the Field Day event.  It will be educational and interesting, especially for those who are not General and higher class Amateur Radio operators, and for those who are not Amateurs at all.  Those of you who would like to get the feel of High Frequency Amateur Radio or some of the Digital modes, be sure to try it out.  This is an opportunity for you to operate modes and frequencies you may have never operated.

Field Day can only be as exciting and educational as you make it. So join in on the fun and learning.  See how operating at a remote location, and on emergency power, for 24 hours, can be different and exciting.  See you on Field Day, June 26th and 27th.
