SUBJECT: CORDLESS PHONES AND BACK-UP POWER
Do you still have a landline telephone? Does it have a cord and plug into the landline jack? Those kind of telephones are getting scarce because everyone is starting to use cordless telephones, or has some kind of cellphone.
If you are using a cordless telephone, what happens when your commercial power goes off? Do you lose telephone service? Do you have a back-up corded telephone that you can plug in to get your service back. If not, do you have a way to operate your cordless telephone from battery power?
Usually when the power goes off, the telephone company landline service doesn't go dead because their system has battery back- up. But, what ever caused the power to go off, such as a tree down or car wreck, might cause you to lose telephone service, but that doesn't happen often.
Now would be the time to figure how to power your cordless telephone from some kind of back-up power. You could use some kind of power converter that operates from a battery, and can power the base of cordless telephone.
It's just something to think about.
