SUBJECT: MONITORING NETS
As Amateur Radio operators we should take advantage of every net that we can and check into them. Even if you don't check into the net, you should at least listen to what's going on, you might even learn something. A lot of Amateurs don't switch from repeater to repeater, or from frequency to frequency, so they may not really know what other Amateur Radio operators are interested in.
If you check into other nets, or at least listen to other nets, you will become familiar with other Amateurs and get to know them by voice and know what their interests might be. The time might come when you will have to call on other Amateurs to help provide emergency communications, and it would be nice to have some idea of who you will be working with. At the same time, it will let other Amateur know who you are so that when you ask them for communications help, they will know who you are.
