WOOD COUNTY ARES BULLETIN NR 20.26 DATE: June 28, 2020
SUBJECT: FIELD DAY, IT'S OVER
The annual Amateur Radio Relay League Field Day is over, and now in the history books.
If you prepared for, set up, operated in, and/or tore down, you should now have an idea how Emergency Communications in a MAJOR disaster would operate. Do you feel that your Field Day was a great success? Did you see anything that could be made better, or done easier? If you did, then your exercise was a success.
If you did not find anything that couldn't be improved on, then your Field Day exercise was a failure. I have yet to see an exercise, or Field Day, where nothing went wrong. There is always something that can be improved.
Now that Field Day is in the history books, sit down and start making a list of what would make it better next year, or the next real event. Don't wait to start the list, you may forget something, and you'll repeat the same problems again next year, or whenever you set up for a real emergency communications.
