WOOD COUNTY ARES BULLETIN NR 20.05 DATE: February 2, 2020
SUBJECT: SIX MORE WEEKS OF WEATHER
Whether the Groundhog sees his shadow or not, we are going to have six more weeks of weather. In about six weeks the summer activities will start up. There will be all kinds of events that may need communications help. All these events can be used to practice for emergency and disaster communications.
Communications help is usually needed at most of the summer events. Most of the time the help is needed at locations that are easy to get to, but sometimes we may have to walk a short distance. If you can't be near your vehicle, you should think of some kind of emergency go-bag.
In your go-bag you should have a radio, or two, spare batteries, note pads and pencils, water, and some kind of snack. If you are in a location where you have weak radio reception, a portable antenna would help. Think about the past events you were involved in and use them to plan what you should have with you.
Take advantage and learn from these events and activities.
