WOOD COUNTY ARES BULLETIN NR 19.28 DATE: July 14, 2019
SUBJECT: DIGITAL MULTIMETERS ARE NICE, BUT
This is a technical bulletin about the use of Digital Multimeters that are used to measure voltage, current, and resistance. The digital multimeter is an excellent meter when precise reading is needed. There's a minor problem in the fact that they can give a false reading if there are any stray voltages that might be introduced by induction or unwanted grounds. Any time you are making a voltage or resistance reading with a reference to ground be careful and don't get a bad reading. If you think the reading you're seeing may be wrong, check it with an analog meter, like used in the old days. An analog meter has a lot better rejection to unwanted readings but may not be as accurate.
