WOOD COUNTY ARES BULLETIN NR 19.20       DATE: May 19, 2019
SUBJECT: DOES YOUR CELLPHONE NEED CHARGED?

Have you ever been somewhere, and you found that your cellphone is dead?  Did you have a charger with you?  Most people don't keep their cellphone charger with them because they know they are going to be back home before it goes dead.  But what happens if you may be activated and can't get back home before it goes dead.

If you have a jump kit made up for emergencies, shouldn't you have a charger for your cellphone in there?  You should also have a charger and/or a spare battery for your hand-held radio too. If you are somewhere that doesn't have commercial power, or a back-up generator, how would you charge either device?

To charge your cellphone you can purchase, or make up, a cable that can be connected to another battery or other power source.  In your jump kit you should have spare batteries for your flashlight.  Before it happens, you should think of a way to connect to those batteries to charge your radio or cellphone. You might even think of another power source, maybe solar power, or small power hand crank generator.  Just a thought.
