WOOD COUNTY ARES BULLETIN NR 18.37 DATE: September 16, 2018
SUBJECT: KNOW YOUR ASSOCIATES
How well do you know the people that you work with? When you're involved in some kind of an activity, wouldn't it be nice to know what resources you have available? The people that you are working with may know more, or less, than you need, or may be able to do more or less than you think.
Wouldn't it be nice to know who to contact if you need something? You wouldn't want to send someone to climb a tower if you knew they were afraid of heights. You wouldn't want to put someone on a boat if you knew they were afraid of water. You wouldn't want to have someone to carry a big box if they have a bad back.
After you work with people for a period of time, you get to know what they know, or can do. The best time to know your associates is during non-emergency tests, drill, exercises, and public service events. If you're not sure what your associates are capable of, ask them. It's best to know your associates before an actual emergency. You don't want to waste your time trying to find the right person for the right job.
