WOOD COUNTY ARES BULLETIN NR 17.31 DATE: July 30, 2017
SUBJECT: KNOW THE PROPER PHONETIC ALPHABET
There is no such thing as "common spelling" in RACES, ARES, or any communications activity. If there is a proper name to be transmitted, always spell it out using the International Phonetic Alphabet. Do not improvise a phonetic alphabet.
If you don't know the International Phonetic Alphabet, now is a good time to learn it, and use it in your daily operations. Because any traffic you relay, a missing or mispronounced letter such as B or V, could mean a difference to thousands of lives. In relaying the names of chemicals, it is very important.
