WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 16.34            DATE: August 21, 2016
SUBJECT: SAVE IT OFTEN

You've probably been told that when you're working with a computer or other device, to save your work or documents once in a while.

My advice is to save your work often.  If you're working on something like writing letters or putting together a report, it's wise to save your file anytime you get ready to do something else, like getting another file or taking a drink of coffee.  If you've been compiling, re-writing, and typing for a several minutes, you would be surprised how much work you've done.  It only takes one little thing to cause you to start over if you don't have it saved.

I don't know which of the "F" Keys were pressed, when a book fell on the keyboard, but I saw my screen saying the computer was shutting down, and it didn't ask me if I wanted to save the file I was working on.  Before the screen went blank, I was able to click on the File and Save buttons as the computer screen said it was saving my settings.  I know I had been on the computer for quite awhile, and I knew that I hadn't been saving the report that I was typing up.

I don't know if the words "Saving Your Settings" has anything to do with saving my file, but I could just see myself starting all over.

As the computer shut down, and when I turned it back on, and it was coming back up, all I could do was wonder how much of my report I would have to do over.

I was lucky, when the computer came up, and I got back into the file I was working on, the report was there, just the way I left it.

So do yourself a favor, and click on that save button often. You might save yourself a ton of work.
