WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 16.33            DATE: August 14, 2016
SUBJECT: IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT AMATEUR RADIO

Amateur Radio might be where it starts, but it's not the only thing that the Amateur Radio operators might be asked to do. Amateur Radio operators might be ask to do a number of jobs.

If you are a dedicated volunteer, and are willing to help support your community, your local Emergency Services, your radio group or club, then you must be willing to do what is asked.

You may be asked to drive a truck to deliver something, or operate other types of communication systems, such as Public Safety radio, telephone, or computers.  Amateur Radio isn't the only system that can be used to provide communications, even though it may be the only thing that is available at times.

If another radio system will be better suited to do the job, then use it.  Don't feel that you are abandoning Amateur Radio, even though a lot of people think of it as only a hobby.

Because Amateur Radio operators work and associate with a lot of different individuals, groups, and public safety agencies, it makes them ideal for some jobs.  Take advantage of any opportunity to provide communications by whatever means are available, it will make you a better communicator, and train you for whatever communication problems that might come up.
