WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 16.23 DATE: June 5, 2016
SUBJECT: NOT TOO EARLY
Field Day is still three weeks away, but it's not too early to get ready. If you wait until the last minute, you'll find that you are missing a lot of items. Just sit down and think about what you are going to do on Field Day. If you are going to set up several stations, do you have the antennas and transmission lines that you are going to use? How about the radios that you need, do you have them, their power cords, and the microphones?
How about power, do you know where your power sources and power cables are at. If you are going to run a gasoline powered generator, do you have plenty of gas? If it's 2 Cycle, don't forget the mix. When was the last time that you serviced the generator? Do you have the power cables to provide the power from the power source to your operating sites?
Have you planned on food? If you're lucky you may have some cooks that will be preparing the food for the operators. There are several things that need to be done to get ready for Field Day. Remember, Field Day is a shack down exercise for any real emergencies that happen to come up. Get started now so you will be ready for Field Day, and any emergency that might pop up at any time.
