WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 15.26          DATE: June 28, 2015
SUBJECT: DID YOU HAVE A SUCCESSFUL FIELD DAY?

It doesn't matter how good or bad Field Day weekend was, what matters is that you should have learned something.  The Field Day weekend isn't just the 24 hours that you were operating the event.  Field Day started several weeks or months ago.  It doesn't matter if you were just a helper, or in charge of the complete event, you should have learned something, or maybe a whole lot.

If your Field Day seemed like a real disaster because of the weather, then you have already learned something.  The weekend weather may be the same way as a real disaster or emergency, and you figured how to overcome it.  Not all Field Day weekends are like this one, but they will happen from time to time.  If you figured how to keep your radios dry and on the air, then you did learn something.

Think of how bad the weather was, and how you were able to overcome the problems.  This is just how it may happen when a real disaster or emergency occurs.  Try to think of the worst event that could happen, and make plans for it.  You know you can't do anything about the weather, you just have to work around it.  Events like Field Day are for training and planning for the time when Amateur Radio is needed, prepare for the worst.
