WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 15.10          DATE: March 8, 2015
SUBJECT: DID YOU LEARN ANYTHING?

The weather service said that we were going to get rain which would later turn into snow, and a lot of it.  The weather service is getting better a predicting what kind of weather we are going to have, but it is up to us to prepare for it.  Did you have everything that you needed when the snow got here, and the electricity went off?

Any time you are pretty sure that bad weather is going to arrive, you shouldn't be surprised.  You should think back to the last time the weather turned bad, and prepare for it.  You might not think of everything, but you should at least be able to stay warm, and have something to eat and drink.  You should always have some kind of food that doesn't take much work to fix, so that you can eat.  It doesn't have to be a big meal, just something to hold you over for a little while.

If you think the power may go off, you might get your flash lights where you can find them.  If the weather is going to be cold, be sure you have a way to stay warm.  If the temperature is going to be so low that it may freeze water pipes, then draw some water in bottles or pans to have something to drink.  Water pipes that you have no control over might freeze, or even break, and you may be without a source of water for several days.

It doesn't hurt to have a case of bottled water sitting around that you can use.  Sit down right now and think of what you didn't have, and get it ready for the next storm or other event.  Now is the time to stock up on a few things that you were missing this time, and be ready for the next event to come along.  It may even happen tomorrow.
