WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 14.49          DATE: December 7, 2014
SUBJECT: THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY TO KNOW

There's only one way to tell if something will work is to try it.  If you think you are ready for any activity, think again.  Even if you think you are ready for what ever happens, you'll probably be wrong.  You may work on something for several hours, or days, but that doesn't mean that it will work when you need it.

The only thing you can do is hope you can work around the problem when you need it.  Weather is one thing that you have to work around.  When you are getting ready for some kind of activity, try to factor in the weather.  As Emergency Communicators we don't always get to hold our activity in good weather.  As a matter of fact, it seems like the only time we are involved in a activity is when it is either raining, cold, or both.

If your activity is going to be held in foul weather, at least try to keep your equipment warm and dry.  If the equipment gets wet it may not work the way you have it planned.  At about every activity that we get involved with, I always say "Think warm and Dry".  That saying should be used for your electronic equipment too.
