WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 14.43 DATE: October 26, 2014
SUBJECT: KEEP COMMUNICATIONS FLOWING
If you've ever been providing communications in an Emergency Operations, or Communications Center, you'll know how important it is to know what is happening at the scene of a disaster or a disaster drill. Using some kind of digital mode of transmission such as Packet Radio, or the more modern tools like an I-Phone, or text messaging, keeps most of the traffic semi-secure.
It's very important that officials at Emergency Centers know what's happening at the scene, so they will know what to prepare for. Giving the highlights over some kind of digital mode at the scene will let those in charge have an idea of what's going on. Passing the information via a digital system will also allow you to make a hard copy of what was said, and can be a quick reference to look back over.
Don't leave the officials hanging, let them know something, even if it's just to say that nothing much is going on.
