SUBJECT: WHY HOLD A SIMPLEX NET?

The question has come up a couple of times as to why we hold a Simplex Net.  The purpose of a simplex net is to allow those who participate learn what to do if your normal repeater or repeaters were not be available, and you needed communications.

When you participate in a simplex net you learn to listen for weaker stations the Net Control Station may not be able to hear. You learn how to relay those weaker stations into the net.  If there is traffic on the net, you can learn how to relay the traffic if the two stations with the traffic can't hear each other, but you can hear both of them.

Operating in a simplex net allows you to find out what stations that you can hear, and the ones you can't hear.  Take advantage any time you can to participate in a simplex net and learn how it's operated.
