SUBJECT: LEARN THE BASICS
If you are really interested in something, learn the basics first to get an understanding of the subject. Then if you find it interesting enough, you can find books at the library, or from friends who might have some.
I was always told that you need to learn something every day. If you find something that you are interested in, get a book and start learning, or take a class on the basics, if there's one available. You won't learn everything there is to know in a basics class, but it will give you a good understanding.
By learning the basics first makes it easier to advance in the subject, and makes it easier to understand it. Learn at you own pace, and if possible try to do "hands on" projects to see how it really works.
Any time there is a class on the basics of a subject you might be interested in, take the class and see what it's about. Then if the subject interests you, then look for other classes or study on you own. If you get stuck on something then ask questions of someone who might know the answers. Don't get discouraged, you may miss out on a lot.
