SUBJECT: ALTERNATE HEATING
There's times when your commercial gas may fail due to a number of things. If your main heating in the winter is gas, and it happens to fail, do you have a way to stay warm? If you are unlucky enough to lose your gas, but still have your electricity, then at least you may be able to stay warm.
Using portable heating devices such as kerosene or propane heaters may be unsafe due to fires or carbon monoxide poisoning. If you are able to stay warm, but are afraid that your water pipe plumbing may still freeze, you may be able to keep them from freezing. The use of a 300 or 500 Watt flood light or spot light may be enough to keep them from freezing. The light doesn't need to be touching the water pipes, but close enough to allow them to stay above freezing.
By using a flood light or spot light you don't need to worry about causing a fire, or running out of fuel during the night and still wake up the next morning with frozen water pipes.
