WV ARES BULLETIN NR 13.21 DATE: May 26, 2013 SUBJECT: MAKE IT A HABIT

Any time that you're attending a meeting or working an event, be sure to wear your Identification or ID Card. Your ID Card has a large, easy to read, name of what you want to be called. This refreshes the memory of those you are talking to. You know how it is to be talking to someone, but can't remember their name. There may be a times when you will have to participate in a real emergency and will need your ID Card to be admitted. If you're not wearing your ID card, you may have a problem trying to explain why you're there. By using your ID Card every time you're involved with an activity, it lets you do two things. One, you can keep better track of where it is, and two, it just becomes a habit so you don't think about it. Your ID Card is issued to you so that you can prove that you're a member of a club, group, or organization. As time goes on other agencies will get used to seeing you and your ID Card. Don't misuse your ID Card by using it to get into locations that you haven't been invited to. If you're in the area of an incident scene, then you should display your ID Card. If those who are in charge happens to see you, and recognizes your ID Card, they may want you to help. Just because you have an ID Card doesn't mean you can go anywhere you want.
